Red Pearl Yoga - Fort Lauderdale, FL
$35 or sign up with a friend and it's $60(save $5 each).
This 2 hour class with one of Red Pearl's all-time favorite teachers will send us on a unique journey through our bodies to free the breath. Taking us back to the first moment at birth when we took a breath --that moment that our mother gave us to the world and we became our very own source of prana.
We'll begin our practice with supported yin postures to drop into our breath followed by an exploration of similar shapes in a gentle flow. Variation will be encouraged to find your unique shapes no matter your level of experience. We'll end with a cool down to calm the nervous system and sooth the soul while Deb sings to you in Sivasana. Local artist Teri Catlin will be accompanying Deb throughout the class.
They say it takes a villiage to raise a family.... come be part of ours.

Dharma Studio - Coconut Grove, FL
Pelvis Stability Workshop
Saturday, May 9th 2:15pm - 4:15pm $40 in advance, $50 at the door (if you bring your mom, you each get $10 off!!) The root of the word sacrum translates as “sacred,” and with this in mind, Deb will help us explore methods to treat this area of the body with the respect it deserves. The pelvis is the place where we sit and wait to pass into this world at birth. It provides us individually with stability and mobility, and is the seat of our reproductive power to create new life. As we continue to honor Mom, we’ll evaluate how to find evenness and space in the pelvis, which is one of the most commonly injured and misaligned areas in the human body. Pelvic instability is often a result of child-bearing (THANKS MOM!) but also presents problems for men too! The structure of this workshop will be suitable for yogis of all levels. We'll use props, the floor, the wall, our breath and often a partner to inform and provide reference points for freedom and equanimity in the pelvis. Deb will guide us through a practice which will highlight how pelvic stability can liberate the spine and the breath as well. This workshop will give us a wonderful opportunity to honor ourselves and the mothers who bring us all to life. |

"Take The Torque out of Twists!"
Kama Deva, East Hampton NY -
Friday, April 10th
9:30 am - 11:30 am
Axial movement of the spine is a vital range of motion to explore and maintain, but without the assistance of your limbs, range of motion is minimal... Ok so, we add the arms and legs, now we're twisting right?! But wait... how far is too far? Are we twisting just to twist or is there any intelligence informed by the breath and our yogic teachings? For many years my yoga practice was fueled by a desire to find the "full expression" of any asana. I achieved many pretzel shapes that were quite the spectacle. Eventually this aggressive perspective left me with irreparable injuries to the connective tissue of my right hip, shoulder and most damaging of all, my ego. Since my muscles are flexible, there was no indicator I was putting too much stress on my ligaments and they eventually became over stretched and tore. I lost all that impressive range of motion and began to harbor a secret hatred for twisting.
Felling frustrated and incapable I turned to my yogic teachings, and found my great desire to "do" was causing me to go against the principal of Ahimsa - do no harm. Why not remove the desire to achieve impressive asana and replace it with a conversation about the benefits and detriments of a twisting practice?
In this two hour class I'll share what I've learned to take the pain and suffering out of our twists. We'll go deep within to let the breath guide us though a gentle informative practice and pick apart some of the most complicated twisting asanas to find our individual expressions.
